We want to contract with Managed Care Plans: Where do we start?
Understanding contracting context is key to knowing the data you need
This week we’re excited about a project that has been a ton of fun. Hint: 📽 🎬 🍿
We often hear from Home and Community-Based Health Supports Providers asking, "I want to contract with Managed Care Plans. Where do I start?" We got this question so frequently that we started creating informal slides and tutorials to cover the foundational topics that come up all the time.
So, when California’s Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) was looking for a partner to develop a series of videos to explain Medicaid/Medi-Cal, CalAIM, and how to contract with Managed Care Plans to address social drivers of health, we thought, “Why not?” It might seem a bit unusual for a data company like us, but these are the kinds of conversations we have every day — with our clients, partners, and the health community. Capturing all that in a repeatable format made perfect sense.
Well, the videos went live this week! We’re thrilled that now there’s an easy place to point Enhanced Care Management and Community Supports Providers in California who are ready to grow and partner with Managed Care Health Plans.
By contributing our expertise to this work, we hope to bridge gaps in understanding to facilitate more effective collaborations across the healthcare landscape. We’re grateful for the opportunity to work closely with the DHCS and support innovative solutions that address Social Drivers of Health.
